About the Artist
About as soon as she could talk, Carol made her love of horses known. Drawing equines was the alternative expression of that love until actual horse ownership in adulthood, when she acquired the first of several Quarter Horses and Appaloosas.
Genetics may have played a role in her passion for horses. Carol’s maternal great-grandfather was a blacksmith and his son (her grandfather) owned a dray business before joining a fire department that still utilized horses. Her paternal great-grandfather loved his teams for farming and never learned to drive a tractor or car.
After receiving Bachelors degrees in Fine Art and Art Education from Ohio State University, Carol’s career path followed a management track in the restaurant industry. Returning to art full time in 1989, she can now be found exhibiting her art at horse shows, dog shows, and related events or teaching drawing and painting from her Buffalo, New York - based studio.
Carol’s originals reflect glimpses of life around horses, whether at a horse show or around the barn or pasture. Her art has graced the covers of a number of publications including “Chronicle of the Horse”, the IHSA Nationals, Lorenzo Driving Competition and New York State Fair Horse Show programs. She specializes in honoring beloved horses and dogs by creating their portraits, capturing individual personality as well as color and conformation and incorporating her clients' ideas.
